Holy Child seeks an experienced and dedicated music and/or theatre arts educator with experience leading high school theatrical productions to serve as the Director of the Performing Arts. This is a 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. position that requires after-school commitments. The Director of the Performing Arts oversees all Performing Arts programs for our school, grades 5-12. Ideal candidates are passionate arts educators with extensive experience directing plays and musical theatre productions; possess strong organizational, leadership and communication skills; have a minimum of 5 years experience as an arts educator/program director; and are highly motivated and passionate about making a difference in students’ lives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee all Performing Arts programming and curriculum development grades 5-12
Oversee and complete annual faculty evaluations for all Performing Arts staff
Oversee substantial Performing Arts budgets
Oversee scheduling, vendors, artists, rentals, budget, etc. for all Performing Arts events, including but not limited to, three Upper and Middle School Theatrical productions, Christmas and Spring Concerts, etc.
Teach 2 sections of choral music and/or theatre arts
Direct/co-direct after-school Upper and/or Middle School theatrical productions
Oversee theatre space and equipment (lighting, sound, projector, etc.)
Show a commitment to community and belonging work
Communicate professionally and compassionately with every member of the community: students, families, and colleagues alike
Communicate regularly and effectively with Division Heads and advisors about student progress
Attend and participate in academic conferences and school events
Cover study halls, lunch duties, and other assignments, as needed
Qualifications:
BA or BFA degree required; MA or MFA degree, or higher preferred
A minimum of 5 years experience as a teacher, chair, or program director
Experience as a Director or Music Director of High School theatrical productions (both plays and musicals)
Passionate and knowledgeable about arts education
Strong piano skills and the ability to read and teach music
Ability to conduct a pit orchestra/MD a musical theatre production
Strong planning and organizational skills
A good sense of humor and collegial spirit
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Coupled with these credentials, the candidate will have a flexible and team-oriented approach to arts education, exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail, and superior interpersonal skills. In addition, candidates with experience in an all-girls, faith-based school and those who will embrace our School's mission of "developing women of conscience and action" are preferable.
