iStage Academy is an independent, international bilingual Performing Arts company with two campuses in Shanghai: Lujiazui international community Pudong and Hongqiao international community in Puxi. iStage offers high quality performing arts courses in Music, Dance and Musical Theatre. Our courses include regular course, spring/summer/winter camp, overseas summer camp, catering to young students from 2 to 16 years old and to adults. We also provide LAMDA and London Trinity College exam, focusing on Performing Arts exams.
All Performing Arts courses are designed by our highly talented and professional specialists reflecting our deep commitment to academic excellence and vision to help every student to be successful. We have students from different international and bilingual schools such as Dulwich, Wellington, Concordia, YCIS, SAS, SUIS and SHSID. We also work with many schools to provide a customised Performing Arts program.
Due to expansion, we are looking for two full time musical theatre specialists joining our young, creative and vibrant team. The successful candidate will be someone with the ambition, vision and experience to help us continue to establish our reputation as a high quality provider of Performing Arts within China and will be given considerable responsibility for shaping the courses and public performances we offer.
Key Expectations:
Deliver high quality courses and be professional at all times
Have a keen interest in musical theatre, drama, music and dance
A love of drama and musical theatre and feel confident and excited about designing courses
Help shape and develop iStage curriculum to make it more comprehensive and up to date
The skills to work with students in the 5-16 age range as well as adults
Excellent working knowledge of a wide range of dramatic styles and be able to design and teach your exiting new courses
Assisting with strategical and operational development of the iStage Academy
Excellent organisational skills and communication skills with parents and children
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and have experience of working under pressure with a positive attitude within a young organisation
Excellent levels of time management and adhere to any daily operation times of the Academy
An understanding to be flexible on hours and days of work as the company develops
Key responsibilities:
Teach to an exceptional level in musical theatre and be a confident, dynamic performer
Work alongside other specialists to devise and teach exciting and high quality musical theatre courses
Help introduce examination systems for performing arts such as Trinity, LAMDA
Develop combined arts performances such as musical theatre productions and concerts
Work closely on musical theatre with other artistic specialists and visiting professionals
Help promote a range of outstanding performance opportunities for the Academy in the 3-18 age range and adult courses
Participate in curriculum development and advising on future direction
Take responsibility for supervision of performing arts facilities and ensure a lively, safe and vibrant working environment
Assist with sourcing and purchasing performing arts equipment and resources
Assist in the day to day operations of the iStage Academy
Advise and assist with the publicity and promotion of the Academy and co-ordinate any public performances and examinations
Help co-ordinate and deliver satellite courses in outside venues and schools
Skill and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree or above in drama, musical theatre, performing arts or equivalent
At lease two year relevant teaching experience
The skills to work with students in a young age group
Qualified for Chinese work permit: Bachelor degree or above, at least 2 years work experience, and no criminal record is a must
The iStage Academy is an independent, international bilingual performing arts company which opened the door in Shanghai in April 2016. The Academy offers high quality courses and examinations in Music, Musical, Drama and Dance to students aged 3 to 16 and adults.

Since it opened the door in April 2016, it has been developing on a fast pace. It has become a well known name among Shanghai local and international communities. The Academy also works with many international and other schools to provide educational theatre programs. In August 2019, the Academy moved into a new space with upgrade facilities, to provide better theatre education experience to old and new students. In August 2021, new campus in Puxi Shanghai was open to the students and parents. The new expansion plan includes Hong Kong and Singapore in the 2023 and 2024
