Job description: Social Media & Visual Content Manager
The Florida Orchestra seeks a social media & visual content manager to tell the story of the orchestra’s mission, music and musicians through social media and a variety of platforms to support the orchestra’s goals and objectives as part of the communications/marketing team.

Position summary
This is an opportunity for a creative person to be part of the largest professional orchestra in Florida and help it continue to grow. Leading the way for the arts in Tampa Bay and beyond, The Florida Orchestra is looking for a fresh, visual approach to social media and digital platforms to strengthen its connection with new and existing audiences, grow attendance and heighten positive brand awareness. This person will attend select concerts/events to capture the energy and passion of a world-class orchestra and its patrons for social media and other platforms.
Responsibilities and skills
- Create actionable plans to increase the orchestra’s social media reach and engagement with both existing and new audiences on popular social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn, in conjunction with the communications/marketing team.
- Develop and maintain a social media calendar that supports brand consistency, stories and goals.
- Identify and pursue influencers, partnerships and collaborations to reach new audiences, including guest artist and tour accounts.
- Recognize and foster non-traditional means for content distribution.
- Assist with social media reporting, and track key performance metrics.
- Create, edit and maintain the organization’s photography and video production needs. Develop and create marketing videos for promotional purposes, including website content, email and social media. Post production and editing of photography and videography as needed.
- Attend select events and capture/produce social media content – live when appropriate.
- Plan and organize external photography and videography as needed.
- Experience in writing, editing and crafting engaging content in the social media space using brand voice and following established guidelines.
- Supervise all aspects of social media interaction between customers and the orchestra, through dialogue and messaging, and ensure a positive customer service experience. Must be able to monitor and respond to social channels during evening and weekend hours.
- Apply industry best practices. Exercise good judgment and discretion; strong ethical character capable of handling confidential information.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms, digital growth strategies, and explore new ways to maximize effectiveness.
- Work collaboratively with other team members, designers to ensure a consistent, integrated brand perception and visual identity.
Additional responsibilities
The social media & visual content manager is expected to attend meetings and various committee or task force meetings as requested/required. Concert duty on select
nights/weekends is part of the job and required. The person will assist with special projects, assignments and any additional duties deemed appropriate or as needed.
Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in social media with proficiency in Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube.
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud preferred.
- Photography experience with professional cameras, lighting and audio equipment preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Strong eye for detail with the ability to multi-task while producing accurate, high-quality content within specified deadlines.
- Physical ability to lift and carry equipment is required, up to 25 lbs.
- The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and some holidays.
Additional Information
Salary starting at $50,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and includes a competitive benefits offering. This an exempt position, requiring availability during standard business times as well as evening and weekend hours.
