CALVERT HALL IS CURRENTLY SEEKING A DIRECTOR OF VOCAL MUSIC

FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR

Calvert Hall College High School, a Catholic and Lasallian college preparatory school, provides a diverse community of young men with a broad and balanced human and Christian education through excellent academic and extracurricular programs that promote leadership, achievement and service within the church and community. 

We are seeking a Director of Vocal Music to conduct our various choral ensembles: Hallmen, Corridors, Madrigals & Chamber Singers.   

Academically, this position will include teaching a variety of general music classes.  These courses could vary depending on the experience and teaching background of the candidate.  Strong consideration will be given to candidates with a diverse music background in both instrumental and vocal music.

This is a dynamic opportunity to lead a vibrant music program and contribute to the broad range of musical activities at Calvert Hall College High School.  Along with leading our various choral ensembles, the candidate will be responsible for teaching instrumental music sectionals and/or small chamber ensembles.  This position serves as the Music Director for our theater productions and oversees the music direction of our liturgy band. The candidate will also serve as a faculty mentor for our Tri-M National Honor Society.   

REQUIRED:  

• Bachelor's degree in music or music education 

• Strong vocal performance skills with ability to teach vocal technique 

• Strong conducting skills 

• Prior experience of directing a vocal ensemble will be considered as a substitute for a music degree.  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:   

• Piano skills related to vocal studio and choral instruction 

• Experience with theater production 

• Experience with liturgical music 

• Ability to manage and maintain library of music and uniforms 

• Knowledge of best practices, strong instructional strategies, and effective pedagogical techniques is essential  

• Works well in a team-teaching environment   

• Develops and administers a balance of traditional and alternative assessments  

• Maintains the classroom environment, encouraging discussion and student engagement  

• Provides support for our students both in the classroom and outside class time  

COMPENSATION:  

The salary range for this position is $44,500 to $70,000 annually and is commensurate with education and experience. This position is eligible for full-time benefits including personal/sick leave benefits.
