Binghamton University is seeking a Lighting Designer who will enhance the Department’s artistic and teaching profile and be responsive to the needs of its diverse and ambitious student population. The successful candidate will take a leadership role in developing the area of lighting design both within the department and beyond. Applicants should have a research agenda that will support the Theatre Department's offerings by increasing its range and diversity of curriculum and working towards a national and/or international reputation as a practitioner and/or scholar.
This position is part of a multi-year cluster hire within Harpur College of Arts and Sciences, “Arts Practice, Performance, and Research in the 21st Century.” This program aims to establish a network of artists and scholars who see their mission as foundational to an intellectually rigorous liberal arts education and who take an expansive approach to their creative activities, research programs, and pedagogy. Fluency in digital software, including Vectorworks, Lightwright, and/or other relevant programs.
MFA in lighting design required plus minimum three years of professional level experience.
Familiarity with digital and analog lighting equipment.
Knowledge of and experience with programming and operating ETC Eos family. Knowledge of modern theatrical lighting equipment including intelligent fixtures, LED Pars and ERS's, and moving fixtures.
Demonstrated time management, problem solving, organization, and deadline adherence as well as communication and collaboration skills.
Knowledge of applicable safety codes and practices
