Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy (Barrack) seeks an experienced, organized, passionate, and caring Director/Music Director for the Spring Upper School Musical. Candidates should have an enthusiasm for musical theater and the role it plays in education, community-building, and inspiring students to seek their passions.
Barrack is a pluralistic Jewish day school for students in grades 6-12. Located in Bryn Mawr, PA (metropolitan Philadelphia), Barrack is the premier Jewish day school in the Delaware Valley, attracting students from Philadelphia and its suburbs, Allentown, southern New Jersey, and Wilmington, Delaware. Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Theater Education, Music/Musical Theater, Performing Arts, or a related field.
Previous experience directing or music directing high school, camp, or community theater and a background in educating upper school students.
Enthusiasm and passion for working with young performers and helping them grow artistically.
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and encouraging demeanor.
Kindness, patience, and a healthy sense of humor.
The ability to implement developmentally appropriate strategies and practices for upper school students, and ability to work with students at various levels of musical proficiency.
Effective organizational skills to manage rehearsal schedules, auditions, and production timelines.
Flexibility to adapt to the school's resources and budget.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred basic piano skills and familiarity with sound, lighting, and technical aspects of theater production.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist in the selection of the Upper School Musical and securing necessary rights.
Conduct auditions and cast students into appropriate roles.
Direct and music direct the Upper School Musical including staging, blocking, music direction and potentially choreography.
Manage cast, crew, and production staff.
Oversee and create rehearsal schedule, and communicate with families and student's about rehearsal schedules and performances.
Coordinate both staff and family volunteers to support the production.
