The Position
Chapin School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic music teacher to fill a full-time position. In addition to teaching PK-3 grade general music, this position includes leading school choirs and serving as Musical Director of the school musical. This position reports to the Assistant Head of School.
Responsibilities:
Teaching general music classes to students PreK - 3rd Grade
Directing Choirs in 4th - 8th Grade
Coordinating and preparing students for Winter and Spring musical performances
Serving as Musical Director for school musical, grades 5th - 8th
Collaborating with homeroom and co-curricular teachers on multi-disciplinary projects
Qualifications:
Three years experience working with students in PreK - 8th grade
Background in vocal/choral music
Strong keyboard skills
Experience leading musical theater performances.
Familiarity with implementing curriculum based on a variety of methodologies including Orff, Kodaly, Dalcroze, and/or Music Learning Theory
Ability to draw from diverse musical styles and traditions a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in music
