POSITION SUMMARY: Full-time,Theatre tenure-track faculty. Teach 24 credit hours per academic year, or the equivalent.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• M.A., M.F.A or Ph.D. required (academic emphasis in Music or Musical Theatre)
• Experience in Vocal Coaching, Music Direction and/or Choral Direction
• Ability to play piano/accompany.
• Experience in Stage Directing and Acting Coaching is desirable.
• Successful teaching experience at the college level is preferred, as well as an understanding of the liberal arts philosophy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach equivalent of 24 credit per year, following the teaching expectations outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
• Serve as Director of Music Ensemble and Choir.
• Develop learning activities for students, report accurate grades, attendance, and feedback to students.
• Stay up to date with current developments in the field.
• Provide input to the Chair, Director, and/or Dean for planning regarding program effectiveness; assess student learning of both institutional and program level outcomes.
• Serve the RU Main stage productions as assigned by Artistic Director.
• Participate in RU committee work.
• Participate in departmental recruiting initiatives as needed, such as attending interviews with prospective students in technical theatre, or specific high school productions.
• Attend designated events, such as chapel, convocation, graduation, and other community building activities.
• Serve as an academic advisor for students.
• Hold a minimum of five (5) office hours per week.
• In collaboration with Chair, Artistic Director of Theatre, Faculty and Staff participate in departmental season planning.
• Promote an inclusive Rochester through demonstration of our Diversity Statement. Participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion both individually and as related to my field of work and discipline.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
