The Pingry School seeks a dynamic and intellectually engaging Lower School Performing Arts Teacher for the 2023-24 school year. The Short Hills Performing Arts Program aims to develop creative, collaborative, and critical thinking skills through dance and drama exercises designed to help students in all facets of their natural development: emotional, intellectual, physical, vocal, and social.

Responsibilities
Supports the education of the whole child and inspires an appreciation for the performing arts in the Lower School
Collaborates with a Lower School Performing Arts Co-Teacher to design and implement a holistic curriculum to promote the K-5 performing arts program.
Supports programming in the areas of dance, drama, and music
Partners with a Lower School Performing Arts Co-Teacher and the Assistant Lower School Director of Student Life to showcase student performances at assemblies
Collaborates with grade-level teachers, music teachers, and the Assistant Lower School Director for Inclusive Teaching and Learning to review and update the curriculum
Collaborates with a Lower School Performing Arts Teacher to co-teach classes and lead performing arts classes.
Assist the Lower School Musical Director and Auxiliary Programs Director in supporting and implementing robust after-school enrichment programming in the Performing Arts.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, Dance Education, Educational Theatre, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
Experience in writing and developing curriculum based on best practices in arts education
An outstanding record teaching elementary or early middle school-aged groups
Familiarity with student-centered constructivist pedagogy
Dedication to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students
Enthusiasm for 21st-century pedagogy and cutting-edge practices
Rich knowledge of disciplinary content and the developmental needs of children
Ability to work with students both in-person and virtually
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Comfortable with incorporating the latest technology into your workflow, including Google Classroom, Seesaw, and Zoom
Skilled in navigating the Google Suite of applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.)
Dedication to partnering collaboratively with a team of talented faculty to implement an inspirational academic program
Knowledge and expertise in cultivating a culture of equity through performing arts teaching and curriculum
