Job Title: Production Manager – Octave 9/Seattle Symphony Live
Reports to: Senior Director of Operations
The Production Manager (Octave 9/Seattle Symphony Live) is primarily responsible for managing the Symphony’s production activities related to the use of the Octave 9: Raisbeck Music Center and production activities related to Seattle Symphony Live, the Symphony’s video broadcast platform. In addition, this position will assist with other Symphony production areas on an occasional basis.
Manage schedule of bookings in Octave 9 from all user groups, ensuring that events are scheduled to maximize efficient use of staffing resources, room equipment and content management system needs.
Work closely with the Artistic Department for Seattle Symphony presented programs to coordinate artist production needs including but not limited to the use of the visual generative engine, determining room set-ups, and creating stage diagrams.
Generate Event Service Orders and Concert Information documents for SSO presented events.
Maintain an equipment repair database with Senior Director of Operations and Audio & Visual Manager.
Work with supervisor and colleagues to create a maintenance timeline for the room equipment including curved screens, projector blending and more.
Work with Senior Director of Operations to ensure that activities in Octave 9 are contractually compliant with union requirements.
Seattle Symphony Live:
Work with video production team to create production schedules for live streams and recorded content.
In coordination with the other Production Manager, create stage diagrams as needed for concerts broadcast on the platform.
Collaborate with Digital Marketing team to ensure production design elements are delivered to the video team in a timely manner.
Coordinate any ancillary video recording activities with the Marketing and Education teams including scheduling directors as needed, reserving appropriate building space for the activities, and requesting stage crew participation as needed.
Coordinate activities for live stream director including but not limited to scheduling, and musical score acquisition.
Assist Audio & Video Manager with equipment inventory and facilitating equipment repairs as needed with administrative support.
Function as a member of the Seattle Symphony Live strategy team, supporting and assisting with the development and execution of growth strategies.
On an as needed basis, coordinate with the Venue Administration department and Audio & Video manager to facilitate client streaming needs.
If workload permits, assist Production Manager with non-SSL production activities.
BA in Music or Arts Administration or equivalent experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in arts administration, preferably with orchestras
Self-motivated, well organized, detail orientated, and able to meet deadlines on a timely basis
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Ability to interact effectively with music director, guest artists, orchestra musicians, librarians, personnel managers, staff, stage crew, and volunteers
Computer proficient (MS Office, database management, word processing, etc.) experience with ArtsVision preferred
In depth knowledge and love of classical and contemporary music and ability to read music/orchestral scores
Performs concert duty-including evenings and weekends as required
