Generalist Instructor within the Department of Theatre and Dance, Musical Theatre and Directing experience preferred.
Teach a variety of courses within the discipline in line with expertise. Serve in a directorial position for the mainstage productions each semester, depending on the applicant’s abilities this may include serving as Director or in a technical role. Participate in department planning, development, and assessment. Assist in maintaining Department facilities, property, and equipment. Maintain adequate office hours on weekdays during the academic year. Serve as faculty advisor for Harlequins, the department’s improv group. Attend Department productions. Assist with recruitment and retention efforts for the department. This includes, but is not limited to, attending events that require travel. Communicate in a professional and punctual manner regarding creative endeavors, including work calls and student mentorship. Attend Convocations and other on-campus events. Honor the objectives of the institution and abide by the rules and regulations and Standard of Conduct contained in the Administrative Policies & Procedures Manual and the Faculty Handbook. Basic values such as honesty, integrity, cooperation, promptness, and dependability are required and are an important part of each faculty member’s performance review. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Terminal degree in Theatre or Musical Theatre. Classroom teaching experience and directing experience. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of two-years experience teaching in a higher education environment, an interest in working as a theater generalist, experience with vocal coaching and/or acting as music director. Applicants experienced with teaching theatre history, acting, and Shakespeare encouraged to apply. Functional piano skills preferred.
