Music Director (Accompanist of Dance) Webster University

Job Description Summary: Accompanies Department of Dance classes, Guest Artist workshops, and Master Classes. Provides musical support to students and instructors. Monitors musical and audio equipment in the Department of Dance.
Minimum Qualifications BA/BM/BFA, Music or exceptional professional experience. Extensive experience accompanying dance forms of ballet, modern, and tap technique. Ability to compose, read and improvise music. Sufficient skills and experience in the use of a variety of musical instruments (primarily keyboard and percussion).Ability to communicate effectively. Good interpersonal skills with students, staff, and faculty. Ability to recite various music styles.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in Fine Arts Higher Education
Essential Duties Accompanies approximately 11 hours of dance classes per week. Accompanies Guest Artist workshops and Master Classes. Monitors musical and audio equipment, requesting maintenance as needed. Provides musical support to students and instructors. Performs a variety of music forms and styles through the utilization of a variety of musical instruments. Provides advice or suggestions on music phrasing, composition, and tempos. Serves as a substitute for another accompanist as necessary.
