As the Production & Stage Manager you are responsible for all aspects of show production ensuring a high quality and safe production process that puts people first. You’ll be responsible for the scheduling, budgeting, contracting and execution of all aspects of physical production, including scenery, lights, costumes, props, paint, sound, and projections for all productions, camps and events; advancing GREAT’s commitment to equity and diversity in its production and design staff; stage managing our large scale musicals and overseeing a team of stage managers; and ensuring the production culture is positive, efficient, inclusive, educational, and collaborative.
As the production manager, you’ll get to:
Collaborate with the leadership team to develop the season schedule for all programming.
Facilitate clear communications throughout the production process acting as the primary liaison between the production teams and GREAT’s production and administrative staff.
Oversee all technical aspects of show production including production meetings, load-ins/load-outs, rehearsals, build schedules for sets, props, costumes, etc.
Oversee, monitor, and evaluate the design process of all shows working with designers to creatively solve all technical and financial challenges.
Prepare contracts, collect tax forms, process and sign timesheets and handle the initial paperwork for including Workers' Compensation forall production and artistic personnel.
Lead all production and post show reflection meetings.
Attend all technical rehearsal, opening nights, parent/cast meetings and staff meetings as needed.
Recruit, teach, schedule, evaluate and appreciate a large, diverse pool of volunteers to ensure that all activities are kept professional and appropriate to the mission of GREAT.
Manage and monitor department budget including approving all production-related expenses such as stipends, production budgets, travel and rentals (in coordination with Finance Director).
Manage all scheduling of all theaters and rehearsal studios and shops.
As the lead stage manager, you’ll get to:
Stage manage five large scale productions each season including recruiting, teaching, scheduling, evaluation and appreciating paid and volunteer crew members (i.e assistant stage managers, running crew, wardrobe, ushers, interns and technicians).
Supervise, schedule, train, and manage the stage management team for our Learning Lab Theatre productions and events with community partners.
Teach Stage Management as part of a new Technical Theatre Degree program in partnership with the St. Cloud Technical and Community College beginning in Fall 2021.
Ensure safety and security of facilities, equipment and people while in production.
As part of the leadership team, you’ll get to:
Serve as leader advancing our mission, vision and beliefs including our EDIJ plan.
Facilitate facility and tech rentals for GREAT space and productions as first point of contact.
Coordinate special event technical needs and logistics, including summer theatre camps.

You have program and project management experience with ideally three or more years in theatre production/arts
You are an excellent communicater, strategic thinker, and creative problem-solver
You enjoy teaching and working with volunteers and community members who have diverse backgrounds and skill sets
You have the ability to organize, multi-task, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced and creative environment
Improving processes and leading others brings you joy and motivates you
You have the ability to collaborate with several teams at once, and you have no problem managing multiple initiatives simultaneously
Computers do what you say. You learn new systems quickly and are confident with microsoft office suite, google, project management software such as Basecamp
You have community leadership and networking experience
You thrive working both independently as well as a contributing member of a team and support GREAT’s values and operating procedures
You don’t mind adapting your schedule according to the needs of the season including working nights and weekends
