Indiana University-Radio/Television Services, WTIU Public Television, and WFIU Public Radio serve south-central Indiana, producing a wide range of radio, television programs for local, state, and national distribution, as well as many non-broadcast productions for the university and community. The Music Director oversees the acquisition, selection, and scheduling of WFIU classical music programming to assure highest standards in musical and technical quality. The Music Director coordinates WFIU's programming operation, hosts a regular airshift, and produces programs for local and national distribution. Reviews new program offerings, costs, and Content Depot subscriptions. This extends to some of our breaking news specials, as well as with the usual music syndicators such as NPR, APM, and WFMT.
Bachelor's degree in a music or communications related field and one year of public broadcasting experience.
Outstanding musicology skills. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information. Facility with digital audio workstation software. Excellent organization skills and ability to multitask. Non-linear thinking skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
Public broadcasting experience in classical music programming. Graduate degree. Knowledge of traffic, music scheduling, and automation software.
Working Conditions / Demands
Good mental concentration. This position requires some physical activity when setting up for special events.
