The San Francisco Conservatory of Music is looking for our next Assistant Manager of Ensembles & Librarian, who will work closely with our Manager of Ensemble Operations to oversee the logistics and coordination of rehearsals and performances of all SFCM large ensembles and manage the large ensemble library. The incumbent will assist with ensemble personnel, supervise a student crew responsible for setting up the stage for rehearsals and performances, and serve as liaison between students, Production Services, faculty and ensemble directors, including SFCM Music Director, Edwin Outwater.

Assistant Manager of Ensembles (70%)
Assist the Manager of Ensemble Operations and large ensemble directors in the planning and production of all large ensemble activities in rehearsals, readings, and performances
Train and manage a team of work-study student staff for ensemble operations and personnel attendance
Coordinate production and technical details with multiple departments, including Production and Recording Services, to ensure successful large ensemble performances
Oversee preparation of stage diagrams for each ensemble, in consultation with the Director of Production Services
Work with the Manager of Ensemble Operations and the Music Director with season repertoire planning and placement auditions
Assist the Manager of Ensemble Operations with student communication
Assist with securing equipment and unusual instruments, as needed
Create and maintain databases of ensemble rosters, program information and calendars
Support special projects including, but not limited to, recording sessions, touring engagements, run-out concerts, and extracurricular productions
Ensemble Librarian (30%)
Oversee ensemble library operations and student library assistants, under the supervision of the Manager of Ensemble Operations
Arrange for hire or purchase of necessary scores and parts
Prepare scores and parts by obtaining bowings and any other markings as requested by the ensemble directors
Manage the distribution and collection of parts to large ensemble students
As with many positions, the incumbent will perform other duties as needed.
Bachelor's degree in music
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability and willingness to adjust to changing circumstances and emergency situations
Ability to uphold procedures and policies, combined with good judgment in weighing exceptions
Effective and appropriate skills for collaborating and communicating with students, faculty, and staff
Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings
Experience with performance library management is a plus, but not required
Knowledge of music notation software,CAD software, and/or EMS preferred
