The Drama Director position is a stipend position that works September 8, 2020 through November 16, 2020 and January 5, 2021 through March 1, 2021. Rehearsals with students take place after the school day, from 2:45PM-5:15PM.

Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart is seeking a part-time Drama Director for the 2020-2021 academic year. The Drama Director is a committed educator who will challenge students to perform at their best. Woodlands Academy believes that a multicultural perspective is an essential element of a 21st Century education and values diversity in its student body, faculty, and staff.
The Drama Director will report to the Dean of Students and join a highly collaborative, innovative, and experienced faculty.
Primary duties to produce a fall play and a spring musical, nurture the arts in school, and teach acting and set design skills
Introduce students to acting methods and to all the other elements associated with launching theatrical productions (from costume and set design to lighting and direction)
Educate students on different acting styles, methods, and techniques
Ensure students are well-prepared and well-rehearsed so that their experience is positive, enjoyable, and successful
Produce all extra-production materials (including programs, posters, tickets and advertisements)
Support, implement, and model the Goals and Criteria for Sacred Heart Schools
Uphold professional standards of personal presentation, discretion, punctuality, and clear, direct, open communication
Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Theatre or related subject matter; master’s degree is preferred
Minimum two years’ experience theater experience with students, preferably in a single-gender setting
Experience with music and video editing
Able to be flexible, helpful, patient, and creative
Sincere drive to share the art of theatre and work with high school students
The ability to build positive relationships with high school students and be a powerful student mentor
The ability to draw people in for collaboration, curriculum development, and problem solving and be a trusted and sought-after colleague
A high-level of familiarity and competence across cultures and multiple perspectives
A genuine understanding or willingness to learn/understand the culture, community, and the demands students feel on a daily basis
Superb communication skills, including excellent verbal/written skills, in order to collaborate with Student Support Team, parents, students, and faculty
Strong people skills in order to be empathetic to the needs of the students and their parents
A willingness to be an active, enthusiastic member of the Woodlands community
Upon employment: completion of Virtus: Protecting God’s Children training and successful completion of criminal offender
