Assistant Professor of Music, Director of Orchestral Activities The EKU School of Music seeks a skilled teacher and musician for a full-time (nine-month), tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Orchestral Activities. The ability to assist in teaching upper strings is also desired, but not required. Responsibilities include: serve as director of the University orchestra; assist or direct the musical theatre pit orchestra; teach undergraduate and graduate courses in instrumental conducting; engage in scholarly research and/or creative activities; participate in faculty service activities, committees, and recruiting, and foster professional relationships with area orchestra directors. Additional responsibilities as determined by the candidate's qualifications and institutional needs.
Qualifications: Master of Music required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching at the university level. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, evidence and potential of creative activity or scholarly research, and knowledge of current trends, materials, and techniques in orchestral conducting.
