For Conductors, The EAMA Summer Music Institute in Paris, France offers a unified method and approach in which theory and practice are seamlessly integrated.
Students apply insights gained from our master teachers’ instruction in harmony, analysis, musicianship, and especially counterpoint to uncover, and then to harness, the potent energies that lie within a skillfully made score.
Keener listening, richer understanding and a more highly developed inner ear refresh and elevate each conductor’s technique as a secure foundation is laid for career-long mastery.
Students work with a String Orchestra and chorus.
The Program is suitable not only for emerging conductors but also for mid-career professionals who are experiencing a hunger for a deeper aural connection with the music they are conducting.
Classes are held at the Historic La Schola Cantorum in Paris' Latin Quarter.

STRING ENSEMBLE SESSIONS FOR CONDUCTING STUDENTS In addition to biweekly two-piano conducting seminars and weekly private conducting lessons, every EAMA conducting student participates in three 2 1/2 hour conducting master classes - for a total of approximately one hour per student — with a professional 12-member string ensemble.These sessions, which occur at regularly spaced intervals over the last ten days of the course, represent a culmination of the month’s preparatory work. Conducting students will integrate and apply EAMA’s aural, theoretical and conducting pedagogy, exploring new approaches to musical leadership with the goal of heightening the linearity, elegance, specificity and flow of live performance.The first two master classes are reserved for conducting students only; the final master class is in a more public format, open to all EAMA students and faculty.
Additional Salary Information: This is a summer workshop. Full-time for the month of July 2020.

Our Institute offers summer music programs in Composition, Conducting and Chamber Music at the historic Schola Cantorum in Paris, France. These programs offer intensive study of the crafts of counterpoint, harmony, analysis, and musicianship as well as personalized training in composition, conducting and chamber music performance taught by professors from The Juilliard School, the San Francisco Conservatory, Mannes College the New School for Music, the Paris Conservatory, the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris and La Schola Cantorum.
