This position in the Department of Theatre Arts is expected to teach existing introductory and advanced Theatre courses associated with musical theatre. Position oversees the curriculum and activities of the Musical Theatre BFA. In this role the position is expected to create a campus environment that is welcoming, inclusive and increasingly diverse; and contribute to the department/program. Faculty will integrate CWU’s commitment to diversity and create a learning environment that is welcoming, accessible and inclusive for all students.
MFA or terminal degree in theatre or similar/equivalent professional experience
Scholarship/Creative Activity and teaching interests in Musical Theatre
Some college-level teaching experience
Willingness to teach a wide range of courses at all levels and modalities
Research, teaching, service or other experience that has prepared the candidate to contribute to CWU’s commitment to the engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse students.
Three or more years of collegiate level teaching experience
Demonstrated teaching and scholarship/creative activity in Musical theatre production
Documented experience as a musical theatre director, vocal coach, music director, or choreographer
Documented experience leading a program area
Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard or Canvas
Ability to incorporate multicultural perspectives and issues into curriculum and the academic environment for 21st century leadership.
Experience working in a diverse environment and/or utilizing a variety of teaching and mentoring methods designed for broad student success.
