East Texas Baptist University invites applications for a full-time, career-track position in music – Director of Bands. The position begins in Summer 2020 and will include directing the symphonic and marching bands, supervising clinical teachers, teaching courses in instrumental music education and other basic musicianship courses as needed, leading all facets of the band program. Other faculty responsibilities include participation in departmental meetings and review, contribution to curriculum development, and student advising duties.
ETBU seeks a qualified individual with teaching experience preferably at the high school and university level, and a record of professional involvement. Candidates must also have a strong commitment to academic scholarship and teaching, and the ability to communicate well with students and colleagues. ETBU seeks Christian faculty who are committed to the integration of faith in learning and will invest in the university, local church, and regional community. The ETBU Band Director serves as the primary recruiter for the instrumental program, and must have the ability to build and maintain a strong band program that impacts the campus culture significantly. The Band Director represents the program as clinician and guest conductor to public school band programs across Texas. The position requires abilities in public relations with a variety of constituents outside the institution including alumni, donors, prospective students and their families, church ministers, and worship leaders.
Masters required (M.M.), doctorate preferred (Ph.D. or D.M.A.).
