POSITION: Full-time, with faculty rank; continuing status track; 9-month faculty appointment, in the School of Humanities, Religion and Social Sciences.

Excellence in choral music has been a tradition at Fresno Pacific University since its inception in 1944 and remains the heart of the music program today. Choral groups perform in churches, festivals, and schools. The music department offers a well-rounded curriculum for students in performance, composition, music education and church music.
Coordinate choral ensembles and choir tours;
Ensure the ongoing development of a thriving and exciting choral music program;
Conduct the Concert Choir and other choral ensembles;
Teach courses in areas of specialization, (courses in music education, church music, music history, music theory, ear-training, composition, conducting, opera, music performance, and/or others);
Develop curriculum in choral pedagogy;
Advise music majors and minors as well as mentor general education students;
Recruit students into the choirs and music program;
Nurture relationships with high school directors and churches in the area;
Coordinate annual high school choral festival;
Maintain an active schedule of performances at churches and collegiate choral festivals;
Participate in departmental and university activities;
Participate in service to the community.
Earned doctorate in Choral Conducting or Music Education (Choral Emphasis) (those nearing terminal degree completion, may be considered);
Record or promise of scholarly/performance achievement;
Experience in college-level teaching with demonstrated excellence in the areas of conducting, teaching conducting, and choral music;
Ability to work with students, staff and faculty in a collegial environment;
Ability to teach and work with persons of diverse backgrounds and experiences;
Successful recruitment and retention of students in a choral program;
Commitment to the Christian faith and the University’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning and involvement in a local Fresno area church;
Understanding of issues pertaining to the integration of faith with the discipline of choral music.
