Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will serve as Assistant Conductor of the Lamont Symphony Orchestra while pursuing either a Master of Music Degree, an Artist Diploma, or a Certificate in Conducting at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, studying with Professor Lawrence Golan. The Assistant Conductor will conduct in a variety of settings including concert performances with the Lamont Symphony Orchestra (LSO), recording sessions with the LSO, full orchestra rehearsals with the LSO, sectional rehearsals with the LSO, and rehearsals with the Lamont Opera Theatre. The student will also gain valuable hands-on, actual experience with many of the extra-musical activities with which conductors and music directors are faced. These experiences will include managing orchestra personnel, librarian activities, running auditions, recruiting, and teaching Basic Conducting classes.

However, there is no additional stipend beyond tuition. 4) The winning candidate will have the opportunity to audition for the paid positions of Associate and Assistant Conductor with the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, of which Maestro Golan is also the Music Director.
