To music direct and conduct WSU Theatre producitons plus special events. He/she will also accompany private voice lessons and classes.
MFA, MA or Bachelor’s degree in Music (with focus on Musical Theatre) or related field and three years professional music direction experience at major regional theatres, Broadway, international or national touring productions and/or BFA university or conservatory programs OR seven years professional music direction experience at major regional theatres, Broadway, international or national touring productions and/or BFA university or conservatory programs
ALL applicants must have Excellent piano skills, substantial experience as a musical director/conductor (both at the piano and standing), ability to transpose on sight. At least two years experience conducting and coaching at the professional or university/conservatory level. Extensive knowledge of the musical theatre repertoire. Ability to teach.
Professional experience as a conductor, musical director, or vocal coach. Knowledge of programming electronic keyboards. Experience as arranger or related skills.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
35% Music Direct and conduct one WSU Theatre production.
20% Music direct/accompany two courses annually
15% Accompany private voice lessons, classes, and all departmental auditions
10% Music direct NYC Senior Showcase
10% Teach up to 5 hours private singing weekly and attend weekly repertoire class
5% Music Direct one ArtsGala presentation
5% Accompany/music direct special events as needed
