Beaver Country Day School seeks an innovative, engaging, experienced Choral Director. Responsibilities include teaching choral classes in both the middle and upper schools and acting as the music director for the annual middle school and upper school musicals. Current upper school classes include A Cappella and Select Singers Honors Chorus. In the middle school, this position will be part of a team including woodwind, percussion, brass, and string teachers who will collaborate to develop a shared curriculum, pedagogy, and culture for the music program. Our ideal candidate will hold students to high performance standards as well as inspire and challenge students with engaging curricula and a diverse repertoire. This position will work with the Performing Arts Head to maintain the growth and strength of the current program by recruiting students, creating new courses, and developing master classes and trips.
Competitive candidates should demonstrate excellent musicianship and artistry as a performer and teacher, knowledge of middle and high school choral repertoire, curriculum and pedagogy, experience leading groups of young children, including an understanding of classroom management techniques, and the vision and drive to build a dynamic choral program. Strong interpersonal, organizational and management skills are essential to the role.
