We are seeking a talented individual who is trained to teach music to help us grow our music program. The responsibilities of the Music Director are both instrumental and vocal music, in addition to including elements of music history, theory, composition, and teaching students how to use music technology to prepare them for today's music industry.
The teacher will help students showcase their abilities through a variety of performances including recitals, community performances, convocation, chapel, and graduation performance. This position offers a unique opportunity to inspire enthusiasm for the arts, and help students find the joy in music and to develop confidence in themselves – both in and out of the classroom. In addition to classroom teaching, the position includes supporting the annual musical, leading a showcase, student advising, ability to drive a 14 passenger bus (training is supplied), and support activities for the boarding program. A willingness to participate in all aspects of a residential school community is essential.

Candidates should have demonstrated success teaching to a range of learners and at least two years’ prior teaching experience. Qualifications for application include at least a B.A. in Music (master’s level degree preferred), proficiency in piano, experience teaching both instrumental and vocal music, and ensemble conducting experience. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for music, effective classroom management skills with a knowledge of how to assess and grade students’ progress, the ability to develop educational programming, and a willingness to work with other teachers across disciplines. Experience working with music technology is preferred.
