The School of Music & Dance seeks a dynamic full-time, tenure track Director of Orchestral Activities beginning August 2019, committed to working in a collaborative and student-centered environment. Assistant Professor.
The successful applicant will conduct and administer the Eastern Michigan University Symphony Orchestra program, supervise student teachers as needed, and advocate effectively for the School within and outside the university, both regionally and nationally. Additional commitments include recruiting high-caliber students, participating in outreach and service, and maintaining an active agenda of scholarly and creative activity. Other responsibilities could include teaching orchestral/string methods, conducting, and occasional graduate courses, according to the strengths of the applicant and needs of the School.
Qualifications: Doctorate or equivalent preferred.
Candidates must have an established record of success in orchestral conducting and teaching. A minimum of five years of teaching experience at the high school and/or university level is required.
